"Shortnin' Bread" has been covered by countless bands. I'm not even sure of its original origin. This rare version kicks a surf sound into it. The other cut has Warren Smith croonin' out of the legendary SUN studio.
I got turned onto The Cramps back in the early '80s. Seen them several times. Hung out with Lux & Poison Ivy as they watched Lux's brother Mike & his band play a dive in Ohio (Penquin Pub). The Cramps have always been top shelf for me. They have opened my ears to wild, odd & rare sounds. But as I dug deeper....I found that ALOT of what the band was doing was done earlier by someone else. The Cramps just put their sorta twist on each tune. So... I will be presenting...for however long it takes....the originals (or close to) that inspired Lux, Poisen Ivy and the others who joined them through the years.
Cramps fans...if you have a request...ask... I may have it in the vast cobb-web ridden vault!
